Guru Gadi Divas

I had an experience of life time at the "299 th Guru Gaddi Divas Celebration" @ Guru Ran Dass Ashram,Los Angeles.The thing that made this occasion so special for me was that I was one of the "Panj Pyara" for the procession"Jaloos" that was held at this celebration.

I was pretty excited about the whole thing so I reached the Gurudwara half an hour before the scheduled time.I just started doing some "seva" at the Gurudwara by the time all the "Panj's" arrive.Then rang the bell ,time was 5:40 p.m (20th October,2007),it was time to get ready.I wore "White Churidars(skin tight pajamas),White Kurta and on top of Kurta Saffron Chola and a White Kirpan".Here I am all decked up:

Then the lady "Manjit Kaur" who was co-ordinating took us in where "Guru Granth Sahib Ji" was placed,we recited Ardas ,then proceeded with the Guru Ji to the place from where the procession was to start.Then we all started moving with procession ,there were Kids in the front portraying small Panj followed by "Bigger Panj's" including me,then Guru Ji and the Sangat.Sangat were playing different instruments like Gutiar,Dhol,Harmonium to give good feel to holy Hyms being sung.It was a short procession that lasted for half an hour not like the usual one's in India that last the whole day long and go around the whole city.After arriving at Gurudwara we placed Guru Ji in the Palki Sahib and all the Panj sat beind Guru Ji doing "Chaur to Guru Ji" for the whole duration of Gurudwara.The whole Gurudwara was jam packed.

At the end of Gurudwara we placed Guru Ji at its place and recited the Ardaas.After the Gurudwara we had Langar and met some people from New Mexico ,it was really nice to meet them.

I am really thankful to some of the people for giving me support to be one of the Panj.First of all my parents,then Manjit Kaur Ji who gave me this opportunity and attended to whole lot of my queries.In the end thanks to Siri Gopal Singh Ji who took my pictures even though he was busy with his Gutiar.
